SALCC ANNOUNCES WINNERS.
The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College has announced the results of the recently concluded visual arts competition held in collaboration with the Organization of American States (OAS). Visual artists in Saint Lucia were invited to submit artwork in various genres that depicted the theme. of the competition “Stories of Courage in the Americas: Resistance to Slavery and Unity Against Racism”. This initiative coincided with the OAS’ annual celebration of the contribution made by African descendants to the Americas.
Four categories of artwork were submitted: painting, digital art, sculpture, and photography. The winners were announced on Wednesday, June 1. The winners are announced from first to third for each category as follows:
Painting/Drawing: Nancy Cole-Auguste, Junette Alexander, Sadia Verneuil
Digital Art: Peter Fevrier, Alcina Nolley, Keitha O’Brian
Photography: Jasen Matoorah, Jamal Bruce, Talis Girard
Sculpture/Functional Ceramics: Mishaél Fabien, Amanda Murphy, Natasha Fontenelle
The judges for the competition were: Kirk Elliot, Calixte George Jr., Alwyn St. Omer, Finola Jennings Clark, Naja Simeon, Urmie Persaud.
The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College wishes to thank all the artistes who submitted artwork for this competition and the judges who volunteered to assist with the competition.
