A flag-raising ceremony will be held at the Boston City Hall on the day preceding the flight.
The Consulate General of Saint Lucia in New York in collaboration with the Saint Lucia Tourist Board will celebrate the inaugural nonstop JetBlue flight from Boston Logan International Airport to the island’s Hewannora International Airport.
To celebrate, a commemorative flag-raising ceremony will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, at Boston’s City Hall. The event will feature a host of dignitaries and Saint Lucian nationals, including Saint Lucia’s Minister for Tourism Hon. Lorne Theophilus, Consul General Julian Du Bois, Mrs. Lorine Charles-St. Jules of the Saint Lucia Tourist Board, as well as a number of local elected officials.
The first JetBlue flight #363 is scheduled to depart at 9:45 a.m. and arrive in Saint Lucia at 2:25 p.m. on Nov. 1. The service will run every Saturday throughout the winter.
Minister Theophilus will also use this opportunity to connect with Saint Lucians in the diaspora via a meet-and-greet at the Roxbury Community College, 1234 Columbus Ave, Roxbury Crossing, Massachusetts. The meet-and-greet is scheduled for 6 p.m.
