THE MINISTRY OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS PARTNERS WITH THE CENTRAL LIBRARY TO HELP SPREAD AWARENESS OF RENEWABLE ENERGY.
The Ministry of Commerce, Manufacturing, Business Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs has collaborated with the Central Library to host an educational summer camp for children between the ages of five and 12. The camp aims to educate children about the environmental benefits of using clean and renewable energy.
The theme for this year’s summer camp is “Saving the World through Green Energy.”
Chief Complaints and Investigation Officer in the Ministry of Commerce, Mrs. Lyra Thomas-Joseph, highlighted the importance of introducing renewable energy to students from a tender age.
“If we meet our children at this age and introduce the idea to them that we’re trying to move away from fossil fuels into renewable energy, they too can practice it and encourage their parents. So the aim is to continue disseminating information about clean energy.”
She added that the 2023 theme is in-keeping with the focus for the 2023 World Consumer Rights Day.
“This theme is in line with the World Consumer Rights theme for 2023—'Empowering Consumers through Clean Energy Transitions.’ We wish you a successful and enjoyable summer camp. Let us practice clean energy transitions in everything that we do because our environment is not threatened by it.”
The summer camp will be held at the Central Library from July 24 until Aug. 4.
